For the internationally active, award-winning design studio ID AID, the vision behind the design of Skandis was to combine lightness and comfort in a modern, clear design language. The classic office swivel chair has been reimagined – more transparent, reduced, and yet with a strong spatial presence. The semi-transparent mesh back gives Skandis an elegant visual lightness, while the harmonious silhouette still maintains the feeling of a fully-fledged, comfortable volume. This creates a hybrid aesthetic that naturally connects openness and security. A special detail is the innovative, screwless plug-in system, which allows the chair to be fully assembled in just a few minutes without tools – quickly, precisely, and intuitively. This emphasizes the holistic design approach, where aesthetics and function are in perfect balance. The lumbar support element seamlessly integrates into the back construction, utilizing its geometry for flexible, load-distributed support.
