The provisions applicable from 1 July 2015 class self-balancing and electric scooters as a subcategory of mopeds. As regards traffic regulations, they are now treated equally to light motor vehicles (up to 20 km/h). Therefore, neither a licence plate nor a separate vehicle insurance is required for these vehicles. They may be driven from 14 years of age with a moped licence and without a licence from 16 years of age. Both the use of bicycle lanes and driving on roads is permitted.
