The remote control is powered by a CR2032 battery. To extend battery life, it features an automatic sleep mode, allowing it to last up to a year before needing a replacement. A green LED lights up when the remote has recognized the VIRB, while a red LED indicates that the VIRB is currently recording.
Included in the package are a mount, a wrist strap (with an additional extension strap), and a long carrying strap. An optional carrying strap with a carabiner allows you to attach the remote to a belt, backpack, or jacket.
It is waterproof up to 5 ATM (equivalent to a test pressure at 50 meters underwater); however, the wireless ANT+ connectivity does not function underwater.
Once the remote has recognized the VIRB for the first time, the device is saved.
