Formatt Hitech Firecrest ND Filter ND 1.8 165 x 165 mm
Neutral density filter, 165 mmProduct details
ND filters reduce the brightness of the whole image without changing the color. ND filters can be used for a wide variety of applications:
Increasing Shutter Speed for Brightness Corrections
Shutter speed extension to allow flash sync
Day for Night effect when flashing
Removing moving objects from architectural images (at high densities)
Ghosting effects (washed out) in waters and clouds (at high densities)
ND filters can be combined in the filter holders with further ND filters (increase of light reduction) or with graduated filters.
Firecrest ND are revolutionary ND filters from Formatt-Hitech. Unlike standard resin filters from other manufacturers, these filters are completely color-neutral and do not show any color cast. The filters are made of 2 mm Schott Superwite glass. The coating is glued in the middle to achieve maximum scratch resistance.

How to calculate the aperture reduction of ND filters?
The density of ND filters is specified in steps of 0.3. To obtain the aperture reduction, first multiply the value by 10 and then divide it by 3.
Example:
0.3 x 10 = 3 | 3 = 1 aperture
1.2 x 10 = 12 | 3 = 4 f-stops
4.8 x 10 = 48 | 3 = 16 f-stops
