Product details
ND graduated filters (ND GRAD) reduce the brightness of a specific part of an image without altering the color or affecting other areas. This allows for greater control over the exposure of the image.
Typically, graduated filters are used to darken the sky, as these areas are often too bright. Darkening the sky adds more drama and emphasizes the foreground.
Firecrest ND filters are revolutionary ND filters from Formatt-Hitech. Unlike standard resin filters, these filters are completely color neutral and have no color cast. They are made from 2 mm Schott Superwite glass. The coating is bonded in the center to achieve maximum scratch resistance.
Features:
- Firecrest ND graduated filters
- Soft transition edge for seamless blending
- Made from 2 mm Schott Superwite glass
- Fits in 100 mm filter holders
- High scratch resistance, fatigue-free material
- Manufactured in England under the most advanced computer-controlled quality assurance
Firecrest represents the highest quality available in ND filters.
How to calculate the f-stop reduction of ND filters?
The density of ND filters is specified in increments of 0.3. To obtain the f-stop reduction, multiply the value by 10 and then divide by 3.
Example:
0.3 x 10 = 3 | 3 = 1 stop
1.2 x 10 = 12 | 3 = 4 stops
4.8 x 10 = 48 | 3 = 16 stops.
