Die Ionic hat einen schweren Stand, muss sie doch das Erbe der Pebble antreten. Im Fitbit OS steckt zwar einiges an Pebble-DNA, doch in vielen Punkten kann die Ionic nicht mit anderen Smartwatches konkurrieren. So ist trotz offener Schnittstellen das App-Angebot mit weniger als 40 Anwendungen immer noch mickrig...
Gängige Features wie Schritt- und Kalorienzähler, Pulskontrolle und Anzeigen von Nachrichten sind für die Fitbit Ionic kein Problem. Was sie von einigen anderen Uhren unterscheidet, ist das eingebaute GPS und die Wasserdichtigkeit bis zu einer Tiefe von 50 Metern. Sie kann daher nicht nur zum Schwimmen, sondern sogar zum Tauchen getragen werden...
Mit dem Erfolgsrezept "halb Smartwatch, halb Fitnesstracker" zieht Fitbit mit seinem Wearable Ionic im Test an der Konkurrenz vorbei. Neben den zahlreichen Fitness-Features gefallen uns im Test vor allem das strahlende Display und die sinnvollen Smartwatch-Funktionalitäten. Über den Sinn der künftig geplanten Bezahlfunktion lässt sich streiten.
Die Fitbit Ionic ist primär eine schicke Fitnessuhr mit Sportfunktionen. Einige Smartwatch-Funktionen fehlen ihr noch. Eine Pebble 3.0 ist die Fitbit Ionic nicht geworden. Das Erbe von Pebble erkennt man an der einladenden Entwicklungsumgebung, aber der LoFi-Charme der preisgünstigen Pebble-Uhren ist einer durchdesignten Uhr zum stolzen Preis gewichen.
Die Fitbit Ionic ist für eine unverbindliche Preisempfehlung von 349 Euro erhältlich. Das ist ein stattlicher Preis. Vor allem, da sie mich zwar als Fitness-Wearable überzeugt, aber als vollwertige Smartwatch würde ich sie noch nicht bezeichnen. Dafür ist die Auswahl an Apps zum Start zu klein und die Anzeige von Benachrichtigungen vom Smartphone macht ein Wearable noch nicht zur Smartwatch.
