The highly absorbent microporous separator of the maintenance-free FG lead battery binds a maximum amount of pure electrolyte and permanently isolates the electrodes from each other. The electrodes are made from a special antimony-free lead alloy, resulting in a very low self-discharge of less than 3% per month.
