The SGP40 air quality sensor uses Sensirion's new SGP40 digital VOC sensor chip. Based on Sensirion's CMOSens technology, the SGP40 offers a complete sensor system on a single chip. The humidity-compensated indoor air quality signal is read out via the I2C interface. In combination with Sensirion's powerful VOC algorithm, the sensor signal can be used directly to assess indoor air quality. It features low power consumption of 2.6mA, a fast response time of 2 seconds, and small dimensions. The data can be used directly to assess air quality without calibration. Integrated with an easy-to-connect Gravity interface, this Gravity SGP40 air quality sensor is very suitable for indoor projects that are used over a long period of time, such as retrofitting air purifiers and kitchen hoods. Furthermore, there are C and Python libraries for use with various platforms.
The VOC index is determined by converting the detected ethanol equivalent in the air. The SGP40 has a PH2.0-4P Gravity connector. You can change the polarity of the supplied connection cable to male by plugging in a Dupont cable M-M 10cm, allowing it to be used on an Arduino UNO.
