With this Power Over eSATA cable, you can connect your external DVD drive with a Slimline SATA interface to a free Power Over eSATA (eSATAp) port. The Power Over eSATA connection combines eSATA and USB into one and allows for power supply through the integrated USB interface. Therefore, you do not need an additional power supply for this application.
