Valhalla Hills is a modern building game inspired by classic game systems such as "The Settlers 2" and "Cultures." The player must lead their exiled Viking heroes to the summit of a mountain, where a magical portal points the way to Valhalla. However, to achieve this, the Vikings must first do one thing: survive! They are confronted with the challenges and dangers of the inhospitable mountain landscapes. As the Vikings would not survive long in the mountains, the player must ensure their protection, provide food, and supply warm clothing, while helping them defend against ghostly mountain dwellers and wild beasts. Since the Vikings are headstrong and may take a break for a delicious horn of mead, this is no simple task. Moreover, a new threat approaches from the high seas. Valhalla Hills features an indirect control system. Players do not control individual characters but instead issue overarching commands. These commands should be well thought out, as the protagonists have their own minds and needs that they wish to pursue, even if it means neglecting their work at times. Continuously generated maps, diverse mountain landscapes, day and night cycles, and a well-balanced economic system provide endless new challenges and variety. Technically, Valhalla Hills is brought to visual brilliance through the Unreal 4 Engine.
