The Darkglass Alpha Omega Photon is a versatile bass distortion and preamp pedal developed in collaboration with Karnivool bassist Jon Stockman, offering fully programmable overdrive tones. The robust aluminum housing in black measures approximately 12 cm in width, 7 cm in depth, and 5 cm in height, weighing 450 g. Key features include five potentiometers for compression, drive, alpha and omega distortion blend, and volume, complemented by a six-band graphic equalizer with touch-sensitive controls. Three multifunction switches allow selection from five compressor modes, five distortion modes, and five impulse responses for cabinet simulation, all of which are bypassable. Connections include a 6.35 mm mono instrument input, a 3.5 mm stereo auxiliary input, two balanced 6.35 mm outputs, an XLR output, a 3.5 mm stereo headphone output, USB-C for audio interface and control via Darkglass Suite, MIDI input via 3.5 mm jack, and Bluetooth for audio input and mobile app control. The power requirement is 9 V DC at 500 mA, with a negative center 2.1/5.5 mm input, and the power supply is not included. This pedal supports a wide range of sound shaping from subtle refinements to aggressive distortions, making it suitable for live performances and studio recordings, with its durable construction ensuring reliability in various musical environments.
