On the outside, the Silencio 550M appears rather inconspicuous due to its clear design language. The black monolith is designed to blend in: Equipped with sound-absorbing foam mats, it nearly silences all operational noises from the components. The elegant look of the front area is complemented by a beautiful matte finish. Clicking hard drive accesses and other disruptive noise sources are barely audible. However, this understated appearance changes as soon as you take a closer look at the case's features. Behind the front door, in addition to two 5.25" drive bays, there is also an external hot-swappable hard drive bay that allows for easy connection of 3.5" hard drives without installation. The connection panel includes one USB 3.0 and one USB 2.0 port, as well as an integrated SD card reader. Inside, there is space for up to seven 3.5" drives. The upper part of the hard drive cage can be completely removed to accommodate long graphics cards up to 400 mm deep and 281 mm long. There is also room for CPU coolers up to 154 mm in height. Cooler Master has pulled out all the stops to make the Silencio 550M as quiet as possible. The side panels and front door are lined with foam mats that efficiently dampen operational noises. The pre-installed silent fans are particularly quiet. A rubber mat decouples the power supply from the chassis, preventing the transfer of vibrations. And the sturdy base ensures a stable, vibration-free stand.
