The all-in-one music server Cocktail Audio X40 can do much more than just stream music. It also digitizes analog audio from its line or phono inputs and stores the data on a hard drive.
For the ambitious high-end user, the Cocktail Audio X40 fulfills all wishes. It is not only an all-in-one HD music server that plays all conceivable formats. With the push of a button, it conserves downloads from low-bit to high-res (including DSD) on optionally available internal or external hard drives. Its drive rips CDs into any format. Additionally, it can digitize the analog signal present at the line inputs or phono port upon request. Thanks to its volume control, the X40 also takes on the role of a preamplifier. Network users will also appreciate the recently completed app, which allows them to comfortably control the Cocktail Audio X40 from a tablet.

Klanglich kann das Modell durchaus überzeugen auch wenn es in den sehr hohen Frequenzen an Genauigkeit fehlt. Dennoch ist der Cocktail ein Allrounder, der weder Bässe noch Höhen verschluckt und dabei auch beim Preis eine gute Figur macht. Leider ist keine eigene App für den Player verfügbar und die mitgelieferte Fernbedienung ist etwas gewöhnungsbedürftig.
Der sehr schicke Alleskönner spielt nicht nur CD und DVD ab, sondern auch zahlreiche Datenformate. Dabei ist das Modell klanglich auf hohem Niveau ohne dabei sich Schwächen zu leisten. Doch damit nicht genug denn der Nutzer kann mit dem X40 auch Aufnahmen erzeugen und Musik auch aus dem Heimnetzwerk abrufen. Das Preis-Leistungsverhältnis des Players ist exzellent.
