Clairefontaine Dry techniques

Clairefontaine, Pastelmat N°4, pastel pad, glued at the top, 12 sheets 24x30 cm, 360g, assorted in 4 colors. The Pastelmat paper with 360g is specially designed for pastel painting. Both the front and back sides can be used. The pigments adhere excellently and are highlighted very well, even without fixative. Layering multiple colors without saturation effects is possible. Effortless blending with fingers on the velvety surface is very gentle on the fingers. The velvety surface is unique: coarser than velour paper, softer than sandpaper. This opens up entirely new possibilities for the artist. Very soft shading, fine lines, or precise details can be achieved. The consumption of pigments is 30 to 40% lower than with conventional sandpaper. The paper is 100% natural, featuring an organic surface made from plant cellulose without the addition of chemical abrasives. The less rough surface also produces very little pastel dust during work. Pastelmat paper can also be used for wet techniques, with water-based paint or denatured alcohol-based paint. It has archival quality, is pH-neutral, and acid-free.
