Clairefontaine Dry techniques

Clairefontaine Pastelmat Paper for Pastel Painting, 5 sheets 70x100 cm, 360 g. The Pastelmat paper, weighing 360 g, is specially designed for pastel painting. Both the front and back sides can be used. The pigments adhere excellently and are well highlighted, even without fixative. Layering multiple colors without saturation effects is possible. Effortless blending with fingers on the velvety surface is very gentle on the fingers. The unique velvety surface is coarser than velvet paper and softer than sandpaper, opening up entirely new possibilities for the artist. This allows for very soft shading, fine lines, or precise details. The pigment consumption is 30 to 40% lower than with conventional sandpaper. The paper is 100% natural, featuring an organic surface made from plant cellulose without the addition of chemical abrasives. The less rough surface also produces very little pastel dust during work. Pastelmat paper can also be used for wet techniques, with water-based paint or denatured alcohol-based paint. It has archival quality, is pH-neutral, and acid-free.
