B+W Gray Gradient Filter 702

The neutral gray half of this gradient filter, with a permeability of 50% (1 f-stop), darkens the relevant subject area by one f-stop without changing the color. For example, if the sky is too bright relative to the landscape, this is the ideal value for good cloud drawing and to prevent the blue sky from fading due to overexposure.

B+W gray gradient filters are often used in landscape photography to avoid overexposure of the sky when the ground is correctly exposed. The effect of this filter can only be simulated to a very limited extent by electronic image processing, as image information is usually lost in overexposed areas.

The filters are half neutral gray, with a soft transition to the neutral half. The rotatable holder allows for exact horizontal alignment when the filter is screwed tight. The glass substrate of the B+W Gray Filter 702 is a plane-parallel ground and finely polished filter disc, ensuring long-lasting high optical quality.

Using thin-film technology, the course is specially evaporated. The value refers to the dark edge area of the filter: - 702 + 2 f-stop (25% transmission). The gray gradient filters are provided with a high-quality MRC coating.

MRC (Multi Resistant Coating) coated filters have an MC layer that ensures high transmission and maximum antireflection coating. Interfering stray light is eliminated, resulting in more brilliant colors and higher contrasts. Due to the low residual reflection, MRC reliably avoids ghost images that can be caused by back reflection from the sensor surface.

Additionally, MRC protects the filter from scratches by increasing the hardness of the coating, thus preserving high optical quality. MRC is also dirt and water repellent, making cleaning easier.
