The Boss FZ-5 Fuzz combines the sound of three legendary fuzz pedals into one. The sound inspirations include the Maestro FZ-1A (Rolling Stones - Satisfaction), the Dallas Arbiter Fuzz Face, and the Roger Mayer Octavia Fuzz (Hendrix - Purple Haze), all of which are excellently modeled using Boss's COSM technology. As an additional feature, the FZ-5 is equipped with a boost control, allowing the sounds to be played with higher distortion levels and more sustain. The middle knob selects the fuzz mode, while the level knob adjusts the volume as usual.
