The Distance 8L backpack is designed for a niche that is yet to be filled. From flat valley trails that seamlessly transition into alpine terrain to high-alpine adventures, this hybrid backpack combines the technology of running vests with extensive knowledge of wearable systems that must be both ultralight and comfortable to allow for quick and unobstructed movement. The Distance is made from durable UHMWP 10x ripstop yarns, which are also used for dogbones and ultralight Camalots. In terms of weight, this fabric has ten times the strength of steel, yet is light enough to float on water.

The shoulder strap system is crafted with seamless edge tape technology. This means that the edge of the shoulder strap is taped, aligning more with today’s innovative sportswear than with a traditional running backpack, providing greater comfort, freedom of movement, and reduced weight. The carrying system has also been designed with an adjustable elastic compression system on the side, which enhances support when running over obstacles and while climbing.

The vest-like system includes two compartments for two small hydration bladders (sold separately) and a pocket for storing a windbreaker. The main compartment of the Distance allows for quick access to the contents of the backpack and includes an integrated security pocket for small essentials, while a mesh separator can be used for a rope or a hydration bladder that is compatible with the backpack's hose routing.

On the outside of the Distance 8, there are two attachments for ice tools and two compartments for storing trekking poles when not in use. With two expandable pockets for storing food or gear, the Distance 8 offers comprehensive functionality for mountain and trail running.
