Product details

The brightness sensor is a light sensor designed for building automation. It is protected against overvoltage and transients, making it suitable for continuous operation. The measurement of illumination intensity is carried out using a precise and long-term stable photodiode with industrial performance specifications. The processing of the measurement signal is done through state-of-the-art sensor technology with an ASIC. Its high sensitivity across a wide range of illumination levels, along with its circuitry, allows the brightness sensor to be used even under very bright lighting conditions. The three-point calibration results in high accuracy over a wide brightness range for typical control tasks. Additional advantages of the brightness sensor include the option to select between DC or AC supply voltage, as well as the output of the measurement value as a 0-10 V standard signal. A variety of applications arise from determining brightness for the dynamic control of devices in home and building automation, such as its use as a sun sensor, for dark/light switching processes, for rain-protected weather stations, or for switching consumers in applications with solar panels. The brightness sensor is also suitable for use in strong sunlight.
