Innovative Wi-Fi 7 offers high-speed WLAN up to 5,760 MBit/s and 1,440 MBit/s. It supports VDSL connections up to 300 MBit/s, with integrated DECT ULE and Zigbee for smart home functionality. The WLAN Mesh creates an intelligent WLAN system for your home network. The device features FRITZ!OS, which includes a media server, NAS, and MyFRITZ! It is an auto-update Wi-Fi router with an integrated modem compatible with all DSL connections, including major providers.
The router supports VDSL connections up to 300 MBit/s and ADSL2+. It can also operate with fiber optic, cable modem, and mobile phone stick. Connectivity options include 1 x 2.5 Gigabit WAN/LAN, 1 x 2.5 Gigabit LAN, and 2 x Gigabit LAN. The WLAN Mesh extends your home network by allowing you to combine several WLAN access points into an intelligent system.
It is compatible with WLAN standards IEEE 802.11a/g/n/ac/ax/be. The telephone system supports IP-based connections, with an integrated DECT base for up to 6 cordless telephones and connections for up to 2 analogue telephones, fax, or answering machine. It includes 5 integrated answering machines with voice-to-mail functionality.
You can manage phone book contacts locally or online through services like Google, Apple, and Telekom. Smart home functions for power, heat, and light are available through DECT ULE and Zigbee. There is 1 x USB for printer and network storage (USB 2.0). FRITZ!NAS provides shared storage for all data in the home network, while the media server distributes music, pictures, and films throughout the home network (DLNA/UPnP AV). It also supports online storage, internet radio, and podcasts.

The Fritz!Box 7690 benefits massively from the upgrade to (Pre-)Wi-Fi 7 in terms of Wi-Fi performance. As usual, its range of functions is very large and the hardware is powerful. The only area where the red pen was a little too strong was the connections.
The brand new FritzBox 7690 has the new Wifi 7 on board; among other things, it provides a significant Wi-Fi speed boost. The 7690 also connects smart home devices from IKEA and Philips Hue via Zig-Bee, for example. A price tip for smaller households is the FritzBox 7530 AX (from 151 euros).
Thanks to the Wi-Fi 7 speed boost, the FritzBox 7690 easily trumps its predecessor 7590 AX in the Wi-Fi measurements. Because even without the 6 gigahertz radio unit, AVM's newcomer really pushed the envelope in the test.
