ASUS ROG Maximus X Code (LGA 1151, Intel Z370, ATX)

Description

M.2 cooler
The ROG Maximus X Code is equipped with an elegant, edged M.2 cooler that keeps the temperature of your SSD low. By efficiently dissipating heat away from the M.2 area, the ROG Maximus X code minimizes the risk of drive throttling, which can occur at high temperatures and degrade performance. The M.2 heatsink with its angular design is an eye-catcher in every system. At the same time, the T-sensor measures temperatures in the important M.2 range and enables real-time monitoring.

Aura Sync
ASUS Aura provides full control over RGB lighting and has a variety of functional presets for the built-in RGB LEDs and the RGB light strips connected to the RGB connectors on the motherboard. In addition, it can be synchronized with the devices of the ever-growing Aura product range.

Flexible control for air or water cooling
With the Maximus X Code, you have full control over fans, water pumps and even all-in-one (AIO) coolers, either through Fan Expert 4 or our award-winning UEFI. Whether you're cooling with air or water, Auto-Tuning mode intelligently configures all parameters with a single mouse click. In addition, there is an Extreme Quiet mode that reduces all fan speeds below the default minimum - keeping your system whisper-quiet for light tasks.

2X2 802.11 AC WLAN with MU-MIMO
ROG Maximus X Code is equipped with 2x2 dual-band 2.4 / 5GHz antennas for transmission speeds up to 867Mbps and the latest multi-user MIMO (MU-MIMO) technology **. This ensures that every connected user has the best possible Wi-Fi and online speed. * The actual speed may vary. The Wi-Fi hotspot feature uses the 802.11a / b / g / n standard. At this time, the Wi-Fi hotspot feature of Windows 10 is not supported.
** Requires a MU-MIMO-enabled device.

Two M.2 with PCIe GEN3
The ROG Maximus X Code supports two M.2 drives with fast transfer speeds of up to 32 GBit / s. The first slot is located just below the PCH heatsink and accommodates M.2 drives up to 110mm (Type 22110). The second slot is located on the bottom edge of the mainboard and is aligned for vertical mounting. It uses the airflow from the PC case to keep the powerful M.2 drive cool.

DDR4 overclocking - more is better
ASUS OptiMem preserves the integrity of the memory signal by routing the traces and vias to the optimal PCB layer. In addition, our T-topology layout ensures timed signal transmission by uniformly adjusting the track length between the memory locations. These improvements result in more overclocking and increased stability - for memory speeds of DDR4-4133 and more, when all memory slots are populated.

Perfect for DIY - ROG Armor
A sturdy thermoplastic cover plate keeps your system tidy and tidy with a style that is both unique and simple.

Pre-installed I / O cover
ROG's patent pending preinstalled I / O cover provides protection against electrostatic discharge up to 12kV and is pre-mounted to make the motherboard installation even easier. The sleek new design now looks as good as it works.

Motherboards

In personal computers, a motherboard is the central printed circuit board (PCB) in many modern computers and holds many of the crucial components of the system, providing connectors for other peripherals. The motherboard is sometimes alternatively known as the mainboard, system board, or, on Apple computers, the logic board. It is also sometimes casually shortened to mobo.

CPU socket
i

CPU socket

A CPU socket or CPU slot is a mechanical component that provides mechanical and electrical connections between a microprocessor and a printed circuit board (PCB). This allows the CPU to be replaced without soldering.
Common sockets have retention clips that apply a constant force, which must be overcome when a device is inserted. For chips with a large number of pins, either zero-insertion force (ZIF) sockets or land grid array (LGA) sockets are used instead. These designs apply a compression force once either a handle (for ZIF type) or a surface plate (LGA type) is put into place. This provides superior mechanical retention while avoiding the risk of bending pins when inserting the chip into the socket.

In addition to bandwidth and capacity variants, modules can
1. Optionally implement ECC, which is an extra data byte lane used for correcting minor errors and detecting major errors for better reliability. Modules with ECC are identified by an additional ECC in their designation.
2. Be "registered", which improves signal integrity (and hence potentially clock speed and physical slot capacity) by electrically buffering the signals at a cost of an extra clock of increased latency. Those modules are identified by an additional R in their designation, whereas non-registered (a.k.a. "unbuffered") RAM may be identified by an additional U in the designation.
3. Be Fully buffered modules, which are designated by F or FB and do not have the same notch position as other classes. Fully buffered modules cannot be used with motherboards that are made for registered modules, and the different notch position physically prevents their insertion.

PCI Express, officially abbreviated as PCI-E or PCIe, is a computer expansion card interface format introduced by Intel in 2004. PCI Express was designed to replace the general-purpose PCI expansion bus, the high-end PCI-X bus and the AGP graphics card interface. Unlike previous PC expansion interfaces, rather than being a bus it is structured around point-to-point serial links called lanes.

The new 802.11ac standard is to be adopted in 2013. The main advantage over 802.11n is the faster data transmission with a gross data rate of up to 6900 Mbps. Net, however, good devices achieve three times as many as 3-stream MiMO devices. Data transmission is exclusively in the 5 GHz band and requires a larger channel width of 80 MHz, optionally a channel width of 160 MHz.
