Conventional hard drives are increasingly proving to be a bottleneck in modern systems. However, Solid State Drives (SSDs) are already on the horizon as their designated successor and are becoming serious competition with falling storage prices.

As a result of this development, the demand for mounting options for 2.5-inch drives is also growing, as SSDs are typically delivered in this format. However, since the majority of modern cases do not have corresponding slots, many manufacturers are now offering retrofit solutions.

Akasa now presents a particularly practical solution made of black steel. The mounting frame accommodates two 2.5-inch drives while only requiring a single 3.5-inch bay. And the best part: some SSDs have a height of 9.5 millimeters, while others are 12.5 millimeters high - in the AK-HDA-03, a slimmer and a taller drive can now be mounted on top of each other and secured from the side.
