WiFi repeaters

I have been using a Netgear AC1200 Wifi Extender for the past 2 years now to allow my Enphase Envoy system for solar power reporting to connect to my Internet router. During that time, it was working fine, with a few rare stability issues. But in the last 2 weeks, the Enphase Envoy's connection to the wifi extender has become unreliable and drops almost immediately after I reconnect it. I tried restarting the Envoy and the Netgear repeater multiple times but that did not help. Finally I did a factory reset on the Netgear and reconfigured it, but it still gives an unstable connection with the Enphase Envoy. The Netgear is 8 years old, so is it possible that it's at the end of its life? The Enphase Envoy is in the basement in the laundry room, and the Netgear extender is in the games room in the basement, but the router is on the first floor, 2 floors above, and both the ground floor and fist floor have a light concrete base. It seems strange that the Netgear extender has only become unstable in the past few weeks, so that's why I'm wondering if it's at the end of it's life. I'm not sure if it's a factor but I turn off my router's Wifi every night, so maybe the continuous disconnection and reconnection are not good for this type of equipment? I'm thinking about buying a new wifi extender, but a little bit worried that I will have the same issues with the new device. I've read on forums that repeaters are bad because they do give poor performance, but i'll mainly be using it for the solar energy reporting, which I think is fairly low data traffic.

I am going to convert my garden railway to WiFi operation. This means that the feedback and servo control will be via 30-40 Pi Pico-W. The first tests (data traffic central PC control with Pico W for feedback and servo control) have been promising. Now it is time to determine the router. An internet connection is not planned, it is only about the communication between the Pico W, router and PC. The router can be mounted approx. 1.5 to 2 metres above the ground and has a clear view of the Pico's. Distances up to approx. 25m. The amount of data to be transmitted is minimal, most of it will be the packet itself. The Pico Ws are powered via the rail current. This means that there will also be a data pick when the system starts up. On average, a WiFi module will send/receive data every 20 seconds. Now to my question: Do you have certain concerns about the functionality of the WiFi connection? What should I pay particular attention to? Which product would you recommend? Hello together I currently have the Sunrise Internet Box installed in my home. Unfortunately, it only has Wifi 5 and I would like to have Wifi 6(e). Sunrise itself has a Wifi 6 router, but you can only get it with a fibre optic connection or it doesn't work with a cable connection. What options do I have to improve my wifi? Swisscom Connect Box doesn't seem to work with other providers. Many thanks in advance.

PowerLine would also be a variant, but often very unstable and somewhat "unpredictable". Plus the power consumption is also often higher. I need some advice and spiritual support for a problem that has been haunting me for years: In the last 15 years, I have lived in 5 different flats in 4 different cantons. In none of these flats have I managed to get the Wi-Fi to work properly. Sure, fibre optics were always missing, but I don't need that anyway. CONSISTENT 30Mbit would be enough for me, but none of the three different providers so far seems to have managed that. I still paid for at least 100-500Mbit. On good days I have received maybe 40Mbit, which I wouldn't mind if I had 40Mbit constantly. Instead, I get constant interruptions, download speeds of 0.5Mbit and "connected but no internet". And if there's a potted plant between the router/repeater and the end device, you can forget it completely. I hear similar things from my acquaintances. You just have it because there are devices that only work via WLAN, but you're not satisfied with them, especially since you pay a small fortune for them every month. With WLAN technology, people seem to be mainly focused on achieving 100Gbit and then 12000Gbit speeds instead of 1Gbit, instead of working on making sure that the connection you have really works. With my mobile phone, I've only been using the mobile network for years, even when I'm at home, because at least that works. Is WLAN technology just basically junk? In 2022, it can't be that difficult to connect a TV to the Wi-Fi network, even if it's not in the same room as the router, but 5 metres further away. Repeaters and powerline adapters usually work in such a way that they manage to increase the range from 2m to 4m and throttle the speed by another 80%. So not really usable either. Do you have any idea how I can get reliable Wi-Fi reception throughout the house, over two floors, without being a trained computer scientist? Actually, I would also like to have Wi-Fi in the garden so that I can control the garden lighting, but that's probably a bit too ambitious if it doesn't even work in the living room...

I have switched from UPC to Sunrise. With UPC I had Connect Pods with me, with Sunrise I have to pay 7.50/month, which I am not prepared to pay. I need 2 as I also need wifi on another floor. Which manufacturer/type can you recommend, there are so many. Should be compatible with the Sunrise Box

Grüezi mitenand, I have the following problem: I live on the 3rd floor of a house. I have a Wingo Box installed there with a fibre optic connection. This works great in the flat. But now I need a strong enough signal to reach the garage. This is directly adjacent to the house but a bit further down :) What kind of device would I have to install in the garage to receive a signal? I only have a power connection available there. I'm looking to boost the signal strength of my iphone 13 in "network sharing" mode to use my iphone's internet access with other devices on wifi and Lan. (The 4/5G signal is strongest in one area of my cottage, but away from the living room...) Has anyone tried successful boosters with this setup?

Hi, i need an advice. I live on the ground floor and i have salt fiber box in my apartment. For some noisy reasons i need to recluse myself in the cellar and work from there. I already do that, but then each time i need internet i have to go up to the apartment... Is there a way and a device that can help me with that? May be some sort of a wifi antenna or amplifier?

Hello together I have not really been satisfied with the network connection in my room for some time. At the moment, it runs via Powerline, which brings about 30 of the 130 Mbit/s into my room (old house). I tested the devolo Magic 2 once and it brought in about 60, which wasn't worth the extra cost to me. Now another idea: I borrowed and tested a WLAN repeater and placed it right under my room. With the mobile phone I have full reception there with the main AP and with the repeater only 38 Mbps. However, these would also reach my room in full. So can anyone recommend a WLAN repeater that can reproduce the full WLAN signal at approx. 8m as the crow flies with a wall in between and then also bring it efficiently to the room above? If anyone has had experience in a similar scenario, it would be helpful. Many thanks and LG

Hello together Unfortunately I have no idea about such systems, so I hope to find some answers here. Background: We have 2 flats next to each other, Internet is from Sunrise with the Sunrise Box (via the telephone connection). As a hint, with the Sunrise Box I have a more or less good connection everywhere in one flat. Now I need internet for the other flat. That's why I thought of a mesh system, e.g. Orbi AX4200. I think in principle it should work. The connection with a satellite should also be stronger than with the Sunrise box, right? But my real question is this: Can I operate the satellite, which would then be in the other flat, with a different SSID? For example, in the flat with the Sunrise Box, this satellite has the SSID "wlan-1" (for both Ghz networks), and you connect to the other satellite via "wlan-2". Is this possible? I hope this is expressed in a way that is a bit clear. Thank you

I need to place my NAS in a room that is far from the router, so a direct Ethernet cable connection is not practical. My NAS only has an Ethernet connector, no possibility to add a network adapter card, and the USB port cannot be used to plug-in an adapter. Is there a device that connects to the WLAN, and provides one (or preferably 4) RJ45 output that I could connect to my NAS ? A bit like a Devolo Powerline, but over WLAN.

I have a Smart TV in one room for which my router signal seems to be too weak for internet access (it works intermittently in the middle of the night). The distance through a wall is about 15m. As an old layman, I once bought a socket amplifier "RANGEXTD" but did not achieve any improvement with it. Would a powerline connection be better? If so, what should I install? I am looking for a repeater or similar device that I can plug into the wall socket, connect to the existing network (via Ethernet cable) and thus expand my WLAN. I have a network connection in every room but only one WLAN router (Fritzbox 5490) in the middle of the flat, but the signal does not reach every room. I would like to achieve WLAN coverage in room XY. Is there such a thing? Thanks a lot for your help! Michael
