Since these fans are closed at the sides and damped (with rubber coating) I have with my radiator already at very low speed (<700rpm) a much better cooling performance.
The fans can be run from about 500rpm and are basically inaudible. Anything below 1000rpm is not annoying in my opinion. Above that you can hear a noticeable draft.
In my configuration, two of these fans spin as case fans at a constant 45% and around 900rpm. Two more of these fans are on the radiator and spin at around 520rpm in desktop mode and around 1000rpm in high load (gaming, CPU+graphics benchmarks).
If you want to use these fans in a nearly silent operation, you have to use the fan control of the mainboard and/or work with low-noise adapters or a separate fan controller.
Clear buy recommendation for anyone who wants to use Noctua quality, but does not want to compromise on color.
