TCL MOVETIME Family Watch MT40X

Small smartwatch for kids. The application and features are very useful and adapted. The GPS is sometimes (very!) approximate but quickly comes back in the race. Some features are not/badly translated but they are not "critical" for the use of the watch. It is possible to do geofencing.
The child can make video or voice calls and send messages only to the contacts on the watch and one watch can be paired with multiple phones (useful if mom and dad want to know where the kids are). Note that the quality of the video camera and very limited but sufficient. The battery lasts about 36 hours for normal use.

One of my daughter's Godparents bought her this for Christmas, and in a word, it's "junk".
First, don't forget, you'll need a Nano-SIM and a mobile phone contract to use this rubbish watch. Swisscom actually sells this watch with a 24-month contract, which is about 23 months longer than your child will be interested in this watch.
Once you've inserted your SIM card, you'll need to bind the watch to a Smartphone. To do this, the watch will give you an IMEI number, which you need to type into your phone, to bind the two devices.
One problem: the "TCL Connect" app doesn't recognise the number.
If you read the App Store reviews of this app, you'll find that almost everyone has given it a 1-star rating, most of the reviews complain about this IMEI issue, and it's been reported since December 2018... and it's still the same now, in December 2021.
The watch is junk.
Seriously, either buy a decent fitness watch (I love my Huawai Watch Fit) or a proper watch (Apple Watch or Samsung Watch) but stay away from this rubbish device.
It's landfill.

The corresponding TCL app (IOS), which is responsible for configuring the watch and receiving calls and alarms, only works conditionally. You often have to have the app open right in front of you to see incoming calls and messages. In my opinion, this should also work in the background when the smartphone is locked.
Once set up, reminders can now suddenly no longer be deleted. Sometimes you can find the app in the logged out state and you have to log in with username and password so that the connection to the clock is re-established. This simply happens in the background without you noticing it.
In summary, I must say that my requirement for this app, namely to receive a call from my child when he wants to reach me, is not met.
