Samsung The Frame 2.0 UE49LS03N
49", LCD, 4K, 2018
I have a large photo collection and want to display them on the Samsung The Frame. I would expect to simply save all the photos to a cloud (Dropbox etc.) or NAS folder and have them randomly selected by the TV. But no: with the iPhone app you have to upload each photo individually. Too cumbersome for many photos. Via USB stick, first the surprise: photos only go up to 33 megapixels, not suitable for my 36 MP camera. Downscaling to 4K resolution on the PC doesn't work either, because the TV software looks at the original resolution in the EXIF data instead of the effective resolution. Unbelievable. So you have to remove the EXIF data on the PC with software. The TV receiver box has 3 USB ports, so you would think that you could just plug in a USB stick with all the photos. But no, you have to copy the photos into the max. 500 MByte on the TV. With the remote control, each one individually, i.e. for 500 photos you have to press 1000 times. And if you want to change the photo selection, you have to delete each one individually, i.e. press 1000 times again. Dear Samsung: Please 1) import and delete all photos, 2) leave the photos on the USB stick instead of copying them to the TV, 3) downscale the photos in the TV, 4) implement cloud support, 5) random order (at the moment only one after the other, and if you change the playback time it starts all over again).
