"World of Warcraft Classic": We need your support
"World of Warcraft Classic" is here. And everyone wants to play it. So do we. That's why we need your help. Together with the digitec community, we want to storm Castle Schattenfang.
13 765: That's how many players are currently waiting on my server to be let in. The waiting time is estimated at 380 minutes. The rush for "World of Warcraft Classic" is gigantic. Developer Blizzard has already provided additional servers, but even that doesn't seem to be enough. The hype is real.
After years of storming the fan community, the cult game developer has decided to resurrect the original WOW. Just like it was almost 15 years ago. To be precise, it is version 1.12. According to Blizzard, this is the most complete version of the classic MMORPG. New updates are delivered at roughly the same intervals as back then. They are primarily limited to content changes and not item stats, etc.
These are the six phases:
- Phase 1 (Release): The Molten Core, Onyxia and Maraudon
- Phase 2: Bleak Breach, Azuregos (world boss), Kazzak (world boss)
- Phase 3: Pitchwing Hoard, Darkmoon Faire, Darkmoon Cards
- Phase 4: Zul'Gurub, Green Dragons (world bosses)
- Phase 5: Start of the Ahn'Qiraj opening event, loot from dungeons is adjusted
- Phase 6: Naxxramas, scourge invasions
Play with us
The first phase of "World of Warcraft Classic" has been playable since 27 August. For the next digitec plays, Simon and I would like to game an instance with you. As we are playing on the Horde side, as it should be ;), we would like to take on Castle Shadowfang (Shadowfang Keep). Depending on how big the rush is in a week's time, we will stream on Wednesday 4 September at 1 pm as usual. If the servers have calmed down a bit by then, we will alternatively schedule the stream for 6 pm. Then more of the digitec community should have time.
Simon plays a druid and I play a hunter. This means that we ideally need a tank, a priest and a damage dealer for our group of five. My character is called Philard, just like back then, and DuttelDudu was Simon's brainchild. We play on the PVP server Transcendence.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet.
