Why buy a new TV!

Spring is just around the corner. The perfect time to give your home a makeover. And, as you already know, the European Football Championship is just around the corner. So we'd advise you to start by replacing your television set. But sport is just one reason. Below, you'll find other arguments and plenty of TVs that speak in favour of a new purchase.
You need a new TV, because:
- the European Football Championship is this year .- the size is very important!
- your eyesight is getting worse and worse, so you need better picture quality!
- your girlfriend wants to watch her favourite series on Netflix and so you need more features
- your girlfriend wants to redesign everything in the spring and that "design" is always a good argument
- you care about the environment and want to reduce your electricity consumption
Here are the full arguments. They're all more convincing than the last, aren't they
.
Dimensions
CES 2016, Las Vegas: Samsung presents the biggest TV ever: 170 inches! Although the giant TV is made up of several parts, the trend is clear: the bigger, the better! Well, 65 or 75 inches is more than enough - and will find its place in the living room without having to move everything around. The advantages of a large television: you get more for your money. Thanks to state-of-the-art screen technology, these behemoths are slim and understated. And best of all: thanks to the cinema atmosphere, you're right in the middle of the action - whether it's sports or Blockbuster movies.
The Samsung UE75JU6470 impresses with its size. You get a smart TV with UHD resolution at a sensational price. Plus you get the Google Chromecast 2015 free of charge for endless entertainment, e.g. for watching series!

To complete the cinema atmosphere, we recommend adding a home cinema audio system with 360-degree dynamic sound.
Image quality
A TV will only guarantee you great moments if the resolution and contrast are high enough, and if the colours are
bright enough. In short: the picture quality has to be good. To achieve this, "4K" (in our case "UHD") has established itself as
new resolution standard. 4K offers four times the resolution of Full HD, and this is not just visible in 4K content. 4K TVs can extrapolate all content to 4K and can therefore play back Full HD content with much sharper images. Colours and contrasts must also be of the highest quality: Sony is banking on 4K, Triluminos for vibrant colours and a powerful processor. Philips boosts contrast with its 'Bright Pro' technology. And Panasonic optimises image quality with its "4K Studio Master" processor. The most talked-about screen technologies at the moment are Samsung's SUHD and LG's OLED. Both technologies deliver vibrant colours and high contrast. Thanks to a newly-developed image processor and "Nano Crystal Color" technology, SUHD achieves up to two-and-a-half times greater clarity than previous models. OLED, on the other hand, is based on self-luminescent pixels and, especially for dark film scenes, guarantees incredible detail without any grey haze. Thanks to self-luminescent pixels - OLED stands for Organic Light Eavecting Diode - LG televisions do not need a backlight. The benefits: true black values, ultra-thin design, as well as elegant design.
Here we opted for the Samsung UE65JS9580: with convincing [SUHD-technology] (https://www.digitec.ch/fr/s1/page/samsung-suhd-tvs-fuer-ein-neues-seh-erlebnis-549 "SUHD-Technologie!"), 2400Hz and UHD resolution at an incredible price! Come and visit us in one of our 9 showrooms and convince yourself of the excellent picture quality and the 65 inches! The LG model below is of course seductive with its OLED, the Sony with its colours and the Philips with its high contrast.
Functionality
My winter routine: when I get home from work, I get cosy on the sofa and watch Netflix. What about you? Luckily today's smart TVs have a whole host of extra features to personalise your programme. Apps, video-on-demand, media libraries and value-added services such as HbbTV give you tailor-made content. Android is the most widely used universal TV operating system. It offers an intuitive and beautifully designed user interface, as well as the greatest functionality currently available - such as countless applications from the Google Play Store, not to mention the quick search function with voice control, right through to Google Cast for simple streaming of videos, photos and music directly from the smartphone. Models from Sony, Philips and Sony, Philips and Sharp have Android. Other manufacturers such as Panasonic ("Firefox OS"), LG ("webOS 2.0" ) and Samsung ("Tizen") are using their own operating systems specially optimised for their TV sets. These differ mainly in terms of design, number of applications and usability.
I find that Android currently offers the best possibilities for using your TV in a different way. That's why we chose the Android smart TV, the Sony KD-55X8505C, which also stands out for its realistic colours thanks to "Triluminos", its ultra-thin design and UHD. The LG and Samsung models below have their own operating system, Philips is an Android advocate.
Design
Modern TV sets are real eye-catchers. They look nothing like the big cubes of yesteryear. Today, the fashion is for elegant, timeless design. Sony Ultraslims and LG OLED TVs are excellent examples. Philips' 48PUS7600 / 12 Ambilight is a real gem. This TV, unique in its kind, is seductive not only thanks to its
backlighting that adapts to the images displayed on the screen - a perfect design object for the living room. Place it on a simple TV stand or, more elegantly, directly on the wall using a wall bracket. Ambilight is truly impressive! It lends a superb atmosphere to your living room, your films and series, especially when you're watching TV in a dark room.
To get a first impression of Ambilight, you can, for example, check out the big brother of the Philips 48PUS7600/12 in our digitec branch in Zurich. At home: simply place the TV on a TV stand or directly on the wall using a wall bracket. And don't forget the matching sound! I really like the design of the TVs below!
With A++, the Sony KDL-48W705C is the most energy efficient model. 48 inches not enough for you? No problem, the 65", 55" and 50" displayed are also very energy efficient.
