Who is Tik Tok, and why are they building a smartphone?
For older people, the hype surrounding Tik Tok is a mystery. Nevertheless, Bytedance, the parent company of the app, has announced that it is launching a smartphone on the market.
TikTok has become famous worldwide with its platform of short dance videos. In this country, most people over the age of twenty do not understand the purpose behind the app from China - even though it is one of the most downloaded apps

Now comes the next announcement from the successful app: the company behind Tik Tok, Bytedance, has announced that it will be producing its own smartphone with Smartisan, a Chinese tech company.

Smartisan had already planned a smartphone beforehand, according to Bytedance. This is now being developed together. At the beginning of the year, Bytedance acquired the patents from Smartisan and brought some employees into the company. The Bytedance phone is to be launched on the market with Tik Tok and Flipchat, Bytedance's messaging app, already pre-installed.
Bytedance, or TikTok, is not the first company in this field to want to produce its own phone. Facebook and Amazon also had such plans, but they failed or came to nothing from the start.
The company has not yet announced when the phone will be released or what it will look like.
