Star Wars: Rise of Skywalker: First trailer with a big WTF
by Dominik Bärlocher
The Skywalker trilogy's last trailer. A new contender for best Joker and Jeff Goldblum in an absurdly ingenious series for Disney+. In addition, we're getting Linda Hamilton in Terminator once more and a Shakespearean adaptation that looks like «Game of Thrones».
The world needs new movie trailers. And we're getting them. Here's a selection of new trailers that you absolutely must see.
Heath Legder's legendary performance as the Clown Prince of Crime might be getting some serious competition. Joaquin Phoenix' stunning 1 minute and 25 second performance is already getting Oscar nods. I like what DC is doing after the «Batman v. Superman» and «Justice League» fiasco: a one-off movie that won't let itself be constrained by any rules of the movie world.
Release date in Swiss cinemas: 10/10/2019
Since the legendary «Terminator: Judgement Day», no robot apocalypse offshoot has managed to please both audiences and critics alike. The return of Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor is supposed to change all this. Not a bad idea. But I personally find the choice of director even more promising: Tim Miller. He already did the first «Deadpool».
The «Dark Fate» trailer does feature several clean action scenes, even if they rely a bit too heavily on CGI. We’ll see.
Release date in Swiss cinemas: 1/11/2019
Timothée Chalamet plays Henry V in this screen adaptation of Shakespeare's classic. The Netflix movie was already shown on October 11. in select cinemas. Before watching the trailer, I didn't really know what to expect. And honestly, I couldn't have expected what I saw. But I like it. I really like it.
Start date: 1/11/2019, Netflix
Jeff Goldblum explaining how the world works. Jeff Goldblum, man. No, there's nothing more to be said.
Start date: 12/11/2019, Disney+
The Force is strong with this one. Or so it seems. Then this new trailer begins with a boat-load of nostalgia and ends with a bang. Yep, the conclusion of the current Star Wars trilogy can certainly come (article in German).
Release date in Swiss cinemas: 18/12/2019

I'm an outdoorsy guy and enjoy sports that push me to the limit – now that’s what I call comfort zone! But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
