The Pixel 2 feels very compact, especially coming from a larger device like the first Google Pixel. The metal casing sits comfortably in the hand and doesn't slip away immediately, as is often the case with ceramic models. With the wide edges at the top and bottom, it certainly doesn't win any beauty awards. Although most smartphones still look like this, I would have expected more from a flagship device in 2017. In return, you get two stereo speakers that produce a really loud sound. The headphone jack, on the other hand, has been rationalised away. At least an adapter is included in the packaging.
The display looks a little paler than the original Pixel - despite Vivid Colours being activated. But there's nothing wrong with the viewing angles. The detailed test will show what tricks the software has in store, how the always-on display performs and whether the camera really is the new smartphone reference.
