The DiskMantler disassembles hard disks into their individual parts within a short time

At some point, your hard drive will be scrap. To ensure that it can be recycled as efficiently as possible, data destruction specialist Garner has developed the DiskMantler. It breaks HDDs down into their individual parts in no time at all - which looks pretty cool.
Recycling PC components is a complex process. Especially as they consist of many individual parts that are recycled in different ways. Instead of melting down HDDs as a whole manufacturer Garner takes a different approach with the DiskMantler
You insert a hard drive into the DiskMantler, which vibrates it into its individual parts and spits them out after up to 120 seconds. The device is then ready for the next HDD. This looks like this:
The process breaks down the hard drives to varying degrees depending on the duration of the "treatment". Garner wants to create a more environmentally friendly method for recycling HDDs. For example, temperatures of over 670 degrees Celsius are required during melting. This produces toxic vapours and destroys components such as rare earths.

By breaking down the individual parts, they can be reused more efficiently. You would still need to remove your data correctly from the disc before treatment. Shaking the disc is no guarantee that it will be permanently deleted. It is not yet known when the DiskMantler will be released and how much it will cost.
