

Swiss SMEs and digitec - a success story

digitec's success is not only based on the large private customer sector: Swiss SMEs also make up a large proportion of our loyal customer base. The Swiss family business hiternal AG is an excellent example of how an SME can, with the help of digitec and without the conditions of a large company, benefit from top-of-the-range infrastructure technologies.
hiternal AG rents out furnished flats in Switzerland for long- and short-term lets. We met Stephanie and Dominic Hess. Together with their father Ruedi Hess, they set up the company and are responsible for its meteoric growth. When we visited their modern office in Zurich, we were greeted by a friendly family atmosphere. The Hess siblings are a close-knit team: the older sister, a responsible and thoughtful leader, and the funny, easy-going younger brother with a flair for business.
digitec: you order most of your technology infrastructure from digitec.ch. What are the decisive arguments for you?
Stephanie Hess: One of the most important factors in a family business is, of course, the price. As we don't have unlimited resources at our disposal, like the biggest companies, we are obliged to look for affordable solutions. On the other hand, we are also dependent on other factors: the quality and reliability of the equipment must be right, so that we don't have to make mediocre technology available to our customers. At the same time, goods must be available quickly: as our customers have the most varied requirements, we must always be flexible and be able to quickly order, or even exchange, new equipment. All these reasons led us to choose digitec.ch as the main platform for our investments.
digitec: what sets you apart from private customers with us?
Stephanie Hess: On the one hand, there's certainly the quantities we order. For example, we ordered over 40 TV sets for our new flats in Lucerne. On the other hand there are also the services we need, which are more specific and comprehensive than those required by private individuals.
Dominic Hess: For example when we set up our offices here. I need everything a modern office needs. However, I have the disadvantage of being ignorant of computer technology and am not prepared to invest huge sums in a computer specialist. Especially when it's possible to get the same thing for much less. Contacting the digitec business department directly and getting a tailor-made solution was the best solution for us. Now we even have a NAS in the office, although I don't know exactly what it is.(Laughs)
digitec: what do you particularly like about digitec.ch's d2b department?
Stephanie Hess: We particularly appreciate the fast and straightforward handling of our requests. When we need new equipment or information about maintenance/use, we get help quickly. This kind of advice, which is often only available in the branches, eliminates the disadvantage we have had up to now with traditional in-store sales.
