"Star Wars: Roll Out": New mini-series for children... and adults

Disney is launching a charming but stylised mini web series for children: "Star Wars: Roll Out". The series starts on 9 August and is set to go beyond "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker".
Disney announces a new mini web series for children and the young at heart: "Star Wars: Roll Out".
The series will be available from 9 August 2019 on Disney's YouTube channel Star Wars Kids and on StarWarsKids.com. It tells short stories from the far-flung universe in a charming but stylised form: All characters have the same shape as BB-8, the spherical droid first seen in "Star Wars: The Force Awakens".
"As 'Star Wars' evolves with each passing year, it's important for us to find new, light-hearted and kid-friendly expressions that carry the heart, soul and adventure of its original form," said James Waugh, Lucasfilm's vice president of franchise content, told StarWars.com. Waugh continues: "One of the wonderful things about our Star Wars Kids channel is that we can experiment."
Children in the focus of "Star Wars"
This is not the first time that Disney has tried to make George Lucas' universe appealing to a younger generation who did not grow up with the classic "Star Wars" films. Last year, the mini web series "Galaxy of Adventures" aimed to familiarise children and young people with the history and characters of that era.
It is not known whether "Star Wars: Roll Out" is the successor to the fan-favourite "Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures". Neither is the length of each episode. The most likely length seems to be around one minute per webisode.
Apropos. In case you haven't seen "Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures" yet: Here you can find the YouTube playlist with all 39 parts that are extremely worth seeing.
With big steps towards "Episode 9"
Slowly but surely, Disney's marketing machinery is picking up speed with regard to "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker". And not just because the mini-series itself is set to go beyond the conclusion of the Skywalker saga, as StarWars.com reports.
In fact, after the rather disappointing Star Wars spin-off "Solo" in May 2018, things have been quiet around "Star Wars" for a long time. A deliberate decision by Bob Iger, the Disney CEO. "Too much, too fast", so his conclusion.

In October 2018, the first shy signs of life were seen with the launch of "Star Wars: Resistance", an animated series on Disney Channel. This was followed shortly afterwards by the announcement of "The Mandalorian", the first live-action series in the "Star Wars" universe. The mini-web series "Star Wars: Galaxy of Adventures" was launched in November.
After another long break, the VR game "Vader Immortal" for the Oculus Rift was released in April 2019. This is followed by the mini-web series "Star Wars: Roll Out" and shortly afterwards, in November, the hotly anticipated role-playing game "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order". Around the same time, the Disney+ streaming service will be launched in the USA, on which all "Star Wars" films including "The Mandalorian" and the seventh season of "The Clone Wars" will be available. Finally, in December, "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" will follow.
On that note: May the Force be with you. Always.
