My take on the first two episodes of Star Wars: The Acolyte
by Luca Fontana
The spoiler factory is a lively place: Luca Fontana, Patrick Vogt and Ramon Schneider discuss, analyse and dissect the first two episodes of "The Acolyte", the new, dark "Star Wars" series on Disney+.
The podcast universe is currently experiencing a shake-up in the Force: for the second season of the Spoiler Factory, we're taking a look at "The Acolyte". This is the new "Star Wars" series, which is set around 100 years before "Star Wars: Episode 1" and aims to bring us closer to the beginning of the end of the Jedi Order.
Luca, the old fanboy, is in a positive mood: He has only ever experienced the era of the High Republic in books and comics, he says. The live-action adaptation is a dream come true for him. Patrick Vogt, proud owner of a Bo-Katan helmet, likes the series but struggles with the pacing: Exciting fights alternate with long-winded scenes. Toy pope Ramon Schneider, on the other hand, still needs to be convinced that "The Acolyte" can also find new acolytes outside the usual "Star Wars" circle.
Since Disney has launched with a double episode of "The Acolyte", so do we. After that, we'll be posting the next episode review every Friday morning.

Luca is living proof that our parents lied: There are no square eyes from watching too much TV. Rumour has it that he was already watching "Star Wars" films and reading Marvel comics in his mother's womb. Today, after many years of field research, he knows his way around the Disney universe better than Al Capone in 1930s Chicago. He uses the same password for his 14 streaming subscriptions because otherwise he would forget them. The only people who are allowed to interfere with his "work" are his two cats.
The Force must be with Patrick, as he saw the light of day in the same year as "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope" (if you know, you know). His love for "Star Wars" is so great that he practices fight choreographies in the garden on balmy full moon nights, with Bo-Katan Kryze's helmet on his head and Kylo Ren's lightsaber in his hand. When he's not saving the galaxy, he fights side by side with Gandalf and Legolas against Saruman's Uruk-hai army, deploys Wolverine's adamantium claws or swings through skyscraper canyons like Spider-Man.
When Ramon isn't bringing his friends to their knees playing board games, he creates entire worlds out of Lego that would impress even Hollywood. To recover from the offline world, he dives headfirst into series and binge-watches with total dedication. His motto: "One more episode to go!"
I'm an outdoorsy guy and enjoy sports that push me to the limit – now that’s what I call comfort zone! But I'm also about curling up in an armchair with books about ugly intrigue and sinister kingkillers. Being an avid cinema-goer, I’ve been known to rave about film scores for hours on end. I’ve always wanted to say: «I am Groot.»
