The Chinese tech company is expanding its product catalogue. In addition to launching the flagship GT 5G smartphone, Realme also unveiled a robot vacuum cleaner and a smartwatch series. In addition, a tablet and a notebook were announced.

An unveiling of the new Relame flagship was already expected at the beginning of June – but the Chinese manufacturer only briefly mentioned 5G technology at its last event. Yesterday, the GT 5G model was officially unveiled – with a whole lot of pomp, of course.

Even before being officially presented to the public, the GT 5G was expected to be a «flagship killer». The phone has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 5G processor installed – and with a comparatively low price tag at that: the 8 GB/128 GB version is priced at €449 internationally by Realme. Prices for Switzerland aren’t yet known.

Solid specs

Besides the high-performance processor, the 6.43-inch phone comes with a 120 Hz OLED display, with either 8 or 12 GB of RAM and 128 or 256 GB of storage. The device has a 4500 mAh battery and a 65-watt charging station. Thus, the Realme GT 5G can be fully charged in 35 minutes according to the manufacturer. It’s available in three colours: Dashing Silver, Dashing Blue and Racing Yellow. In addition, the GT 5G is unlocked for the beta version of Android 12.

In regards to photography, a triple rear camera with a 64-megapixel main sensor, an 8-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor and a 2-megapixel macro lens is installed. There’s a 16-megapixel sensor in the front for your selfies.

According to Android Authority, the Realme GT 5G will be available in Poland, Spain, Russia and Thailand for the time being – but other countries should follow soon.

But wait, there’s more

Besides its new flagship phone, Realme also had other products to show off. In the second half of its online event, the Chinese tech company unveiled two gadgets and announced another two.

Moving into the realm of IoT, Realme launched its first robot vacuum cleaner, the Realme TechLife Robot Vacuum. The ten-centimetre tall device is already listed on the European homepage and is currently available for €379.

In addition, the second series of Realme Watch was shown off. The Pro version will arrive with retailers at 1.75 inches and 14 days of battery life. This smartwatch can now recognise 90 different sporting activities, has GPS and can measure the oxygen content in your blood as well as your heart rate. The Apple Watch sends its regards. Realme’s Watch 2 Pro is currently available in the brand’s European store for just under €75.

When and whether the gadgets will be available in Swiss stores is currently unclear.

A tablet and a notebook, all soon to come

A Realme tablet was also confirmed towards the end of the presentation. However, apart from a promotional image, there was no further information on it at the event. The Chinese tech company will reveal more about the «realme Pad» in the coming months.

Leaked images of a Realme notebook started circulating on the web a week ago, and Android Authority published first pictures of the real device. In terms of design, the main inspiration for Realme’s first notebook is clearly visible – when opened, it looks confusingly similar to an Apple MacBook.

«I want it all! The terrifying lows, the dizzying highs, the creamy middles!» – these words spoken by an iconic American TV celebrity could have been mine. It's a take on life I also apply to my job. What does this mean in concrete terms? That every story has its charm; no matter how small, large, exciting or trivial. The more eclectic the mix, the better.
