Now ready for order: Winbot W3 Omni window cleaning robot from Ecovacs
The latest model in the Ecovacs window cleaning column is designed to save you even more work. In the base station, a wash cycle ensures that the mopping pad is clean again after one minute and ready for the next use.
Not in the mood for window cleaning? Then let the robot do it. The new top model of the Ecovacs window cleaning robots, the Winbot W3 Omni, has an automatic self-cleaning function. This means that you don't have to rinse and wring out the mopping pad yourself under running water. This is done by the base station, which looks like a washing machine.

My colleague Lorenz will be testing the device in the coming weeks and writing a review.

«Vortex Wash» system: less work for you
According to the manufacturer, 16 high-pressure nozzles in the base station spray the mop pad with a water pressure of 20 kilopascals (kPa) each. Four rotating brush arms scrub the mop pad and help to remove dirt residues. A scraper then squeezes out excess water. The entire washing process should take one minute, after which the Winbot W3 Omni is ready for the next window.
«Vortex Wash» is, according to Ecovacs, the «industry's first integrated cleaning system for mopping pads». However, it doesn't work completely without your intervention: you have to unclip the mop plate with the pad from the robot and hang it in the base station for cleaning. After cleaning, reattach it to the robot. You are also responsible for filling the fresh water tank and emptying the dirty water tank.
The station has a self-cleaning function that ensures that the washing chamber is clean again.
How the Winbot W3 Omni cleans
To clean the windows, place the cleaning device on the pane, where it sucks itself in with a suction power of 3300 Pascal even while moving. The Winbot W3 Omni determines the best route to cover the entire pane and carries out the set cleaning programme.
The robot sprays fresh water with cleaning agent onto the window via small nozzles on the front. The damp cloth is designed to remove dirt and leave the window streak-free. Like its predecessor, the Winbot W2S Omni, the W3 Omni recognises window edges and cleans them with a side brush, which it lowers specifically for edge cleaning.
With the cleaning modes, you determine where and how intensively the Winbot W3 Omni works. For example, you can set how much the robot's paths should overlap. The more overlap, the more thorough - and slower - the cleaning.
Cables without cable clutter
The cleaning unit is connected to the base station via a 5.5 metre cable. It transmits power and serves as additional fall protection: the base station weighs ten kilograms and can attach itself to the floor. After cleaning, the station retracts the cable so that you don't have a tangle of cables on the floor. Thanks to the portable base station's 4500 mAh battery, you can let the Winbot W3 Omni clean for up to 70 minutes before you have to connect it to the power cable.
Use the control panel with several buttons and a display on the top of the station to make settings for the bot and the base station. You can also use the app for this.
