The devices of the new smartphone generation come with a powerful optical zoom and, for the first time, a magnetic accessory holder on the housing.

The Google Pixel 10 and its Pro models hardly differ visually from their predecessors. There are a few differences under the bonnet, some of which I would like to present to you here. You'll also get an overview of the devices and accessories available from us.

New features of the Pixel 10 series

An important new feature of the new generation of devices is Pixelsnap. The smartphones have a magnet built into the casing that allows you to attach chargers and other accessories such as handles to the back of the device. Sound familiar? Apple's iPhones have been offering this for years under the name MagSafe. The way it works is the same. Pixelsnap supports Qi2 wireless charging technology. Thanks to the magnetic holder, your phone stays securely in position while charging.

The new processor is also worth mentioning. Instead of the Tensor G4, the Tensor G5 is now installed. It has better cooling and energy efficiency. With the same amount of RAM, it provides the phone with more performance reserves.

There is light and shade when it comes to the camera equipment: both the main camera and the ultra-wide-angle camera now have to make do with a lower resolution. On the other hand, the 10.8 megapixel telephoto camera on the back now has a third lens. Google has not changed the selfie camera.

Other than that, the Pixel 10 devices score points with slightly improved battery, charging performance, display brightness and - of course - new AI functions. You can find out more at the end of this article.

Google Pixel 10

The smartphone comes with a 6.3-inch OLED display in 20:9 format. It has a resolution of 1080 × 2424 pixels and supports an adaptive refresh rate of 60 to 120 hertz.

The 48-megapixel main camera with macro focus, a 13-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and now also a 10.8-megapixel camera with a 5x telephoto lens are located on the back. You can record 4K videos at up to 60 fps. The selfie camera has a resolution of 10.5 megapixels.

You can get the device with 128 or 256 gigabytes of SSD storage and in the colours «Frost», «Lemongrass», «Indigo» or «Obsidian».

The 4970 mAh battery can be charged up to 55 per cent in 30 minutes thanks to 30 watt fast charging via USB-C. The Qi2 wireless charging function achieves a charging speed of 15 watts. Google promises a battery life of more than 24 hours with average use. Please note: The charger for fast charging and a Qi2 charging plate are not included in the scope of delivery. However, you can order them separately from us.

The Pixel 10 is dust and waterproof to IP68. The processor is supported by 12 gigabytes of RAM. The Android 16 operating system is installed and Google promises updates for the device for seven years from market launch.

You can also get Google smartphone cases for the Pixel 10 from us. They are compatible with Pixelsnap.

Google Pixel 10 Pro

The Google Pixel 10 Pro has all the features of the Pixel 10. The display is the same size at 6.3 inches, but offers a slightly better resolution of 1280 × 2856 pixels.

The Pixel 10 Pro gives you a greater choice in terms of storage: 128, 256, 512 and 1000 gigabytes are available. For the colours, Google has opted for subtle shades of blue, grey and green as well as «Obsidian».

The main camera has a resolution of 50 megapixels. At 48 megapixels, the ultra-wide-angle camera and the telephoto camera offer a significant improvement compared to the standard version. Google advertises a 100x digital zoom with AI for more sharpness, as my colleague Michelle found out during testing. However, the AI sometimes distorts details. Video recording is possible at up to 8K at 30 fps. The selfie camera has a resolution of 42 megapixels.

The battery is slightly smaller at 4870 mAh. The fast charging functions are identical. Instead of 12 gigabytes, the Pixel 10 Pro comes with 16 gigabytes of RAM.

Here are the Pixelsnap-compatible smartphone cases for the Pixel 10 Pro.

Google Pixel 10 Pro XL

You were already expecting it: The Pixel 10 Pro XL offers you everything that the smaller variants have, only in some cases even better. This is immediately apparent in the display, which is significantly larger at 6.8 inches and offers a higher resolution of 1344 × 2992 pixels.

The memory configuration of the Pro XL starts with 256 GB. You can also get it with 512 and 1000 GB. The colours are the same as the Pixel 10 Pro.

AI gets involved everywhere

Google has given its Gemini AI better and better features in the past. Via Gemini Live, you can talk to the AI in real time about what you see on your camera screen. Gemini then offers you tips and assistance. With the help of «Circle to search», you circle screen content with your finger and the AI provides you with information about it. For phone calls in different languages, Gemini offers real-time translation - even in the voice of the speaker.

The AI functions also include the new camera coach. It is designed to help you take better photos. This is not about post-processing a photo as usual, but about tips for better shots. The AI is supposed to recognise what you want to photograph and what atmosphere you want to capture when you align the camera in order to provide you with tips on how to set the scene better.

Colleague Michelle finds the feature technically impressive, as she states in her test. However, she believes that it is most interesting for absolute photography beginners. Once the picture has been taken, you can edit it further. For example, you can tell the AI to make objects in the background disappear. Editing by voice command is a new feature.

Some of these functions are currently reserved exclusively for the Pixel 10 series. However, they could also be made available to older models at a later date.

Accessories

Of course, you can also order chargers for the smartphones presented here. The phones are supplied with a standard USB-C charging cable. If you want to charge them quickly or wirelessly, you will need optional charging accessories

The fast charger can charge up to two devices simultaneously. According to the manufacturer, Pixel smartphones are prioritised. The Pixelsnap charger is available with or without a stand.

The ring stand does not charge your device, but provides it with a secure stand using the Pixelsnap holder. Attached to the back of your smartphone, you can take the stand with you to save space. If you want to place your Pixel 10 in front of you, simply fold down the metal ring of the ring stand.
