Samsung has optimised the new models of its folding phones compared to their predecessors. The Galaxy Flip7 impresses with an improved external display, while the Galaxy Fold7 has a better camera.

Fold upwards: Galaxy Z Flip7
In the late 1990s and early 2000s, flip phones were extremely popular. They were small, practical and robust - and flipping them open showed style and coolness. Samsung's Galaxy Z Flip aims to recreate the feeling of the old flip phones. But modern and smart, of course.
Unfolded, the Galaxy Z Flip7 offers you a 6.9-inch display. Fold it in half with a flip. The additional external display allows you to use many functions even when closed. You can choose between anthracite, dark blue and coral red for the casing.
Compared to the previous version, the Galaxy Z Flip6, Samsung has improved the outer display in particular. In direct comparison, it is 4.1 inches larger instead of 3.4 inches and also brighter: 2600 nits compared to 1600 nits. In addition, the Super AMOLED display supports a doubled refresh rate of 120 hertz.
Samsung has said goodbye to Snapdragon for the processor. The device now works with the «Exynos 2500» CPU from Samsung. The camera equipment has remained the same: The main camera on the outside has a resolution of 50 megapixels and there is also a twelve-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The inside offers a ten-megapixel selfie camera. Thanks to the external display, you can also use the main camera for selfies and thus enjoy a significantly higher resolution.
The 4300 mAh battery offers a little more capacity: the previous model was equipped with a 4000 mAh battery. Up to 31 hours of video playback should be possible with the new battery. When folded, the device is just under 1.4 centimetres thick. For the first time, you can also use Google's AI assistant Gemini on the external display.

Fold out like a book: Galaxy Z Fold7
If you can't decide whether you want a tablet or a smartphone, the Galaxy Z Fold7 is the right choice for you. When folded, it is a normal smartphone with the outer 6.5-inch screen. When you unfold it, an almost square display with a screen diagonal of 8 inches and a resolution of 2184 × 1968 pixels unfolds.

In terms of camera equipment, Samsung has opted for the 200 megapixel wide-angle camera from the «Galaxy S Ultra» series. This is the first time it has been used in a foldable device. The «ProVisual Engine» takes care of the post-processing of the photos. It is designed to optimise colours, bring out details and improve skin tones. The main camera of the predecessor model Galaxy Z Fold6 had a maximum resolution of 50 megapixels. According to the manufacturer, images and videos can then be conveniently edited on the large display.
In addition, a twelve-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera and a telephoto lens with ten megapixels are available on the outside. A selfie camera with ten megapixel resolution awaits you on the inside.
Galaxy Z Fold7 with 1000 gigabytes and 16 gigabytes of RAM:
Samsung is sticking with the Qualcomm processor for the Galaxy Z Fold7. After the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, the Snapdragon 8 Elite is now being used. It should enable better frame rates in games and more efficient AI functions - such as for Gemini queries. Heat development under prolonged load has also been reduced.
When folded, the device is only 8.9 millimetres thick and therefore 3.2 millimetres thinner than the previous model. According to the manufacturer, the 4400 mAh battery lasts for up to 24 hours of video playback.
