There are various game modes - from quick play to career mode, in which you build up a team over the long term.
The most important innovation compared to its predecessor «FC 25» are two separate gameplay modes: «Authentic» for a more realistic, tactical match in offline mode and «Competitive» for faster, arcade-like gameplay in online modes such as Ultimate Team.
This year's version of the game also introduces 13 different archetypes inspired by legendary footballers. For example, the «Maestro»: a central midfielder who uses precise passes to drive forward a game focussed on ball possession. Another archetype is the «Sentinel», a defensive player with strengths in tackling and heading.
In comparison to its predecessor «FC 25», animations have also been revised and a more precise passing game has been introduced.
