RingConn review: this ring scores points with its battery and price
by Lorenz Keller
Creamy pastel colours instead of gold and silver: the Oura Ring 4 is now available as a ceramic version. Nothing has changed under the bonnet.
The Oura Ring 4 is a wearable ring-shaped sensor that continuously records and analyses your vital signs. It was previously only available in the typical ring colours of gold, rose gold, silver and black. If that's too boring for you, you might be interested in the new generation of the Oura Ring 4. This is now available as an additional version made of zirconium oxide ceramic instead of titanium and in four new colours.
The ring is available in sizes 4 to 15. The best way to find the right size for you is to use the trial set. You can find all colours and sizes of the Oura Ring 4 here.
Zirconium oxide ceramic is also known as ceramic steel. The non-metallic material is very hard, wear-resistant and can withstand high temperatures. It is used as a dental prosthesis, as a denture material and as a ceramic blade for knives, among other things.
The Oura Ring 4 was released at the end of November 2024 and the ceramic version offers no technical innovations. However, you can now manage several rings in one account and therefore wear a different ring depending on the outfit or occasion, for example. According to the manufacturer, the ring is also slightly thicker at 3.51 millimetres.
Sleep analysis is one of the central functions. The ring records your sleep duration, sleep quality and the distribution of light, deep and REM sleep phases. Heart rate measurement takes place around the clock and also includes heart rate variability (HRV), which is considered an indicator of physical exertion and recovery ability.
The ring is waterproof up to 100 metres. According to the manufacturer, the battery life is five to eight days depending on use.
My colleague Lorenz tested the silver version of the ring at the beginning of the year.

Feels just as comfortable in front of a gaming PC as she does in a hammock in the garden. Likes the Roman Empire, container ships and science fiction books. Focuses mostly on unearthing news stories about IT and smart products.
Presentations of select new products at Digitec and Galaxus. Tested, to the point, no marketing blah.
Show allAn integrated temperature sensor measures changes in your skin temperature and can detect deviations from the individual normal value. For menstruating users, the ring offers a cycle forecast based on temperature changes. In terms of activity tracking, the Oura Ring 4 registers movement patterns, counts steps and estimates calories burned. Unfortunately, you can only use all of the ring's functions with a paid plan.
