From 5 March, the Switch 2 will become a digital retreat for fans of relaxed building games. In "Pokémon Pokopia", you transform a barren island into a thriving paradise full of cute pocket monsters.

If you don't like wild virtual shootouts and find hard-hitting simulations too stressful, the cozy game «Pokémon Pokopia» could brighten up your evening. Or your offspring's afternoon.

In the «Pokémon» spin-off, which looks like a mixture of «Animal Crossing» and «Minecraft», you create your own world and give cute Pokémon a home. Nintendo describes the game as a relaxing life simulation.

Nintendo Pokémon Pokopia

Switch 2, French, German, Italian

You start out as Ditto on a dry island with empty ruins. Your character can take on certain abilities from Pokémon that you attract and use them yourself. You use them to shape the landscape, cultivate vegetables and build shelters that you decorate with furniture. You also complete tasks for the Pokémon and ensure that they are doing well.

Your goal is to turn the deserted island into your own paradise. Without time pressure or conflict. In the course of the loosely narrated background story, you will learn why the island was abandoned and what it used to look like.

If you like, you can play with up to three other friends and work on an island together. My colleague Domagoj has already played «Pokémon Pokopia» for two hours. You can read his impressions here:
