Asus and Kojima Productions offer a powerful 2-in-1 tablet with the special edition "ROG Flow Z13-KJP". It is aimed at gamers and creatives and attracts attention with its eye-catching design.

The hardware manufacturer Asus and the Japanese game studio Kojima Productions - known for «Death Stranding» - are jointly launching a 2-in-1 gaming tablet.

This is technically a «ROG Flow Z13» with 128 gigabytes of RAM and a white, gold and black Kojima design. Thanks to the detachable keyboard in CH layout, you can use the device as both a tablet and a notebook. There is a fold-out stand on the back of the «ROG Flow Z13-KJP», which you can use to place the device in front of you.

Delivery will take place from the beginning of March.

High-end processor and 128 gigabytes of RAM

The centrepiece of the hardware is the processor: an AMD Ryzen AI Max+ 395 with 16 cores, 32 threads and a clock speed of up to 5.1 gigahertz. The integrated Radeon 8060S graphics unit has 40 RDNA compute units and is on a par with dedicated mid-range graphics cards in terms of performance.

Both share the RAM, which is also generously dimensioned with 128 gigabytes of LPDDR5X-8000 RAM. There is also the NPU with 50 TOPS for AI calculations. A terabyte of PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSD storage is available as the main memory.

Asus uses a vapour chamber, liquid metal heat transfer medium and two fans to cool these components. The battery has a capacity of 70 Wh (watt hours). According to the manufacturer, the battery can be charged from zero to 50 per cent in 30 minutes using the 200 watt power supply unit supplied.

The 13.4-inch touch display offers a resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, a refresh rate of up to 180 hertz, Dolby Vision support and 100% DCI-P3 colour space coverage. Asus specifies the maximum brightness as 500 nits.

The range of connections includes two USB 4 Type-C ports, one HDMI 2.1 port, one USB 3.2 Type-A port, a MicroSD UHS II card reader, a 3.5-millimetre audio port as well as Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.4

Industrial aesthetics in matt gold

The hardware is housed in an aluminium casing with carbon elements. The military-industrial-look case is emblazoned with the logos of both brands, several letterings and the slogan «For Ludens who dare». It combines the ROG motto «For those who dare» (in German: Für die etwas wagen) with Kojima's claim from «Homo Ludens», the playful human being with his imagination and creative power.

At 1.7 kilograms including the keyboard, the device is no lightweight. This is also reflected in the angular design with a thickness of around 1.5 centimetres. The scope of delivery also includes an eye-catching, visually matching hard-shell transport case.
