In "Donkey Kong Bananza", the grumpy gorilla Donkey Kong can do more than just drum on his chest and roll barrels. He carves up entire landscapes without batting an eyelid.

Nintendo's most famous monkey is back and he's stronger than ever. In «Donkey Kong Bananza» nothing is safe from Donkey Kong. He easily carves tunnels into the ground, tears chunks out of rock faces and smashes obstacles with them.

Story? Not so important - it's the spectacle that counts

The game's story takes a back seat to the spectacle of destruction. A storm somehow sweeps Donkey Kong into an underground world. There he meets the singer Pauline. While DK only has bananas on his mind, Pauline wants to get back to the surface as quickly as possible. The only way to do this is for the two of them to reach the earth's core. Monkey and girl team up - because DK's powers make travelling through different layers of the far-reaching underworld easier.

This offers very different landscapes: from the snow-covered tundra to lagoons and gorges, there is plenty to discover. Last but not least «Bananzas», ancient powers that help the monkey transform into other animal forms - when Pauline sings for him. This even allows DK to fly for a short time.

But weird villains from the «Void Company» are also up to mischief there. They are probably after the Banadium jewels. But first they have to get past DK and his love of bananas. By collecting banadium jewels, you earn skill points that you can use to increase your strength and learn new abilities.

You can play the game in local or online co-op mode with a friend. You can control DK and Pauline separately. «Donkey Kong Bananza» will be released on 17 July. A test of the game will be available shortly before the release from Cassie Mammone.

Only runs on the Switch 2

«Bananza» is the second game developed specifically for Nintendo's new console after «Mario Kart World». You therefore need the Switch 2 to play it, but the Pro Controller, which is easier to hold than the Joy Cons, is optional. My colleague Domagoj has already tested it and finds it «almost perfect». With the camera, which is also available in an unusual piranha plant look, you can show yourself to your online teammate while playing.

About the availability of the Switch 2: Due to the high demand, the console unfortunately sells out quickly and therefore cannot always be ordered. According to our merchandise management, we will receive a larger contingent in mid-July.

Addition to availability: The Switch 2 will be in stock from 10 July. The bundle with Mario Kart World in particular will then be readily available.
