There is no such thing as one lens for everything. But Nikon's new 14x zoom for full format comes pretty close to realising this dream.
As the name suggests, the Nikon Z 28-400mm has a focal length range of 28 to 400 millimetres, which roughly corresponds to a 14x zoom. This is record-breaking, as it is a lens for full-frame format. The larger the sensor, the more difficult it is to build a lens with a lot of zoom.

A superzoom lens like this is ideal for travelling: you only need to take one lens with you. At 725 grams, the new Nikon lens is surprisingly light. It is even more versatile thanks to its very short focusing distance. You can focus on subjects from 20 centimetres in the wide-angle range and from 1.2 metres in the super-telephoto range.
One weak point is the lens speed. It starts at f/4 at wide angle and ends at f/8. The built-in image stabiliser can compensate for up to 5 stops of exposure according to the CIPA standard.
There is still the question of image quality, which is rarely really good with universal zoom lenses. You can get a first impression of this at dpreview.com, where some test shots are available in original resolution. I don't think the quality is top-notch, but certainly okay, especially at wide angle.
