Migros affected by ransomware attack

A gang of blackmailers is threatening to publish stolen data from a Migros subsidiary on the darknet. The company wants to file criminal charges.
Egg producer Lüchinger+Schmid has fallen victim to a ransomware attack. A 27 gigabyte sample of the Migros subsidiary's stolen data was published on the darknet site of a blackmailer gang. This is reported by the news portal Watson. The gang is now threatening to publish the complete data set if negotiations do not take place soon.
Migros confirmed the incident upon request.
«Kriminelle Akteure haben sich Zugang zu vornehmlich älteren Daten von Lüchinger+Schmid, einer Tochtergesellschaft der Migros Industrie, beschafft. Dank schnellen Eingreifens konnte der Schaden glücklicherweise in Grenzen gehalten und Sicherheitslücken geschlossen werden. Die Migros selber oder andere Unternehmen der Migros-Gruppe sind vom Vorfall nicht betroffen. Es wird Strafanzeige eingereicht.»
The ransomware attack was published on the leak page of SunCrypt. This is a provider of ransomware software that first made news in 2019. At the time, SunCrypt claimed to be part of the infamous Maze ransomware cartel. Maze has since reportedly disbanded. The masterminds behind SunCrypt are suspected to be in Russia.

Being the game and gadget geek that I am, working at digitec and Galaxus makes me feel like a kid in a candy shop – but it does take its toll on my wallet. I enjoy tinkering with my PC in Tim Taylor fashion and talking about games on my podcast http://www.onemorelevel.ch. To satisfy my need for speed, I get on my full suspension mountain bike and set out to find some nice trails. My thirst for culture is quenched by deep conversations over a couple of cold ones at the mostly frustrating games of FC Winterthur.
