Microsoft plans to move Windows 11 to the cloud

Like Windows 365, Windows 11 will also run in the cloud. This emerges from an internal Microsoft presentation. Among other things, the operating system will benefit from improved AI services.
What Microsoft is offering for companies with Windows 365 is also set to happen with Windows 11. The long-term goal is to no longer have Windows 11 stored locally, but on a server. In other words, the operating system including settings, applications and user data. This is according to an internal Microsoft presentation from June 2022. The document has surfaced due to the current proceedings by the US Federal Trade Commission (FTC) regarding the takeover of Activision Blizzard. Unlike the EU, the FTC has not yet approved the takeover of the video games group by Microsoft. It has requested emergency injunctions against both companies.

In the presentation, the shift of the operating system is described as follows:
Based on Windows 365, a complete Windows operating system will be streamed from the cloud to every device. The power of the cloud and the client will be harnessed to provide people with enhanced AI-powered services and complete accessibility to the digital experience
The presentation includes explanations of Microsoft's strategies and priorities for modern life. The company sees Windows 11 streaming as an important long-term opportunity. Nothing is set in stone yet. According to another slide, Chromebooks represent a challenge for the company. Their sales have increased during the coronavirus years. Microsoft now wants to "strengthen the commercial value of Windows and respond to the threat posed by Chromebooks".
The company is doing this, among other things, by planning to develop its own processors in future. These are to be used in Surface products and other devices. This comes as no surprise due to a Bloomberg report from the end of 2020. Nevertheless, the company's own "Custom Silicon" is slowly taking shape thanks to the new information from the presentation.
