"Manor Lords" VR: A user mod makes it possible

With the help of a user mod, you can play "Manor Lords" and many other games in virtual reality. The mod is free of charge.

When it rains, puddles form on the streets, the ox drags a tree trunk behind it and a hut falls victim to the fire: the building game "Manor Lords" simply looks great. If you have a VR headset, you can even marvel at it in virtual reality.

The VR modding community's Flat2VR account published this video of "Manor Lords" in VR on X, formerly Twitter:

The video shows how the game can be controlled in virtual reality via floating menus. You can look around with head movements and move in the bird's eye view as well as at eye level with the villagers. The developer of "Manor Lords" responded: "Wow, I have no idea how that's possible, but I'm impressed". At the moment, however, the controls only work with a mouse and keyboard.

Flat2VR itself only recently released a mod that allows an older version of "World of Warcraft" to be played in virtual reality.

"Manor Lords" and many other games in VR thanks to mod

The "UEVR" mod by user Praydog is required for virtual reality in "Manor Lords". He presented his mod as an open beta in January. It also enables a VR experience for many other games without major adjustments. It is a framework with which many games that run on Unreal Engine 4 or 5 can be played in VR. Depending on the game, the mod offers - among other things - full headset tracking and the projection of two-dimensional windows in the room. This seems to work well in "Manor Lords".

A list of games tested with UEVR can be found here in the "Testing Log" tab. According to this, "Satisfactory", "Squad" and "Conan Exiles", among others, work very well in VR. "Good" functionality is indicated for "Hogwarts Legacy", "Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order" and "Grounded".

Here is the English-language website for the mod. You will also find instructions on how to use it there.

"Manor Lords" shatters records

The one-man project "Manor Lords" created a lot of hype even before its early access release last Friday. More than two million players had the game on their wish list and its release was eagerly awaited. More than one million sales and more than 170,000 simultaneously active fans on Steam are impressive figures for a game from a solo developer. This means that "Manor Lords" set the record for the most simultaneously active players in a building game.
