Just in: Wildlife photography bundle featuring the Sony Alpha 6700 and a ‘70–350 mm’ lens
The ‘Alpha 6700 Wildlife Kit’ combines a mirrorless APS-C camera with AI autofocus and a telephoto zoom lens with a 35mm equivalent focal length of up to 525 millimetres.
If you enjoy photographing wildlife whilst travelling, the «Alpha 6700 Wildlife Kit» from Sony might be the supplier for you. This bundle, comprising a mirrorless system camera and two lenses, combines a comparatively compact, lightweight system with a wide focal length range. This makes it a good choice for you if you like to travel light and want to photograph animals or other subjects from a greater distance.
Included are the Alpha 6700, the telephoto lens «E 70–350 mm f4.5–6.3 G OSS» – which is ideal for wildlife photography – and the ultra-compact standard zoom «E PZ 16–50 mm f3.5–5.6 OSS». These three components are not new to the market. However, Sony is offering them as a themed kit for the first time.

Why is the Alpha 6700 well suited to wildlife photography?
The Alpha 6700 uses an APS-C sensor with a crop factor of 1.5. This means that the angle of view of the 70–350 mm lens corresponds to an equivalent 35 mm focal length of 105 to 525 millimetres. This covers many typical wildlife situations, as you don’t need to get right up close to the animals to photograph them. To achieve the same close-up frame with a full-frame camera, you would need to use significantly larger and heavier telephoto lenses.
The AI-assisted autofocus recognises various subject types such as people, animals, birds, insects and vehicles, and can track them across almost the entire frame. This means you need to manually adjust the focus much less often and can concentrate more on composition and timing. This is particularly advantageous when photographing animals that move quickly or unpredictably.

Furthermore, the Alpha 6700’s continuous autofocus allows for continuous shooting at up to eleven frames per second. If, for example, a bird suddenly takes flight, the continuous shooting function increases the likelihood of capturing that decisive moment. With 26 megapixels, the sensor offers a good balance between scope for cropping and moderate file size.
The camera, when used in combination with the «70–350 mm» lens
The lens covers a telephoto range up to 525 millimetres (35mm equivalent) and offers good optical quality. The camera’s built-in 5-axis image stabilisation works in conjunction with the optical image stabiliser (OSS) of the 70–350 mm lens. This helps you when shooting without a tripod, at longer focal lengths and in low light conditions.
The Alpha 6700 weighs 493 grammes including the battery and memory card, whilst the lens weighs around 625 grammes. With a combined weight of around 1.1 kilograms, this combination is significantly lighter than many full-frame set-ups with a comparable focal range. On long hikes and when taking lots of handheld shots, the reduced weight should make a noticeable difference.
The additional «16–50 mm» lens
This lens plays more of a supporting role in wildlife photography. It is mainly suitable for landscape shots, travel and documentary photography, as well as shots showing animals in their natural surroundings. To this end, it is particularly compact. It weighs 116 grammes.
