Testing «Stray»: a heartfelt feline adventure in a splendid cyberpunk setting
by Philipp Rüegg
In the distant past and the post-apocalyptic future, there was no money, we traded. Let's do the same in the present: let's barter.
Imagine our capitalist system collapses and all our money is gone or worthless. What do we do then? Smash each other's heads in and raid each other's fridges? Nope, not an option. I believe our society is capable of much more in this thought experiment. For example, that we crawl into the mountains and start by plastering away our stockpile for times of state emergency. It was rumoured in the military in the early 2000s that Switzerland could supply every inhabitant with food for three years. We have the Reduit for something.
But what comes after that? Who will pay us for the work? All right - it will probably never happen anyway. But if it did, we could help each other out with barter deals. Oh yes, I think that's a good idea. I write you a nonsensical text and you cut my hair for it. Okay? Oh yes; this article is anything but nonsensical, because you're about to get a swap offer from me.
Many years ago, I had the pleasure of regularly looking after children as a youth and sports leader. And we did this once with the following game:
The children are divided into groups of three. The groups are then given three hours to battle it out. Each group is given an egg and the task of ringing the doorbells of local residents and asking for a trade.
So one egg became two apples. The apples became a few pears. And the pears became an old washtub. After the three hours, they compared which group had received the most valuable goods. And hey; there were other great things in addition to the tub. A radio with a loose connection, a spade and lots of sweets - as well as things that no longer spring to mind.
Be that as it may, I'm offering you a lot more than an egg.
Why always buy when you might have what I want? Go on, have a think in the cellar or attic. Because there's bound to be stuff lying around that's too good to throw away but you'll never use again. Isn't that right?
Deniz is a really good mate of mine. He'll be pleased to read this. Anyway, I swapped my old Sony surround system for the following products, all of which I believe Deniz bought from digitec. And everything you see in the following pictures could soon be yours:
Did I mention that the Walkera F210 3D's software was broken-flashed? Or was it the one from the Walkera DeVention Devo 7? In any case, the model needs to be revitalised before the next launch. And on top of that, one of the rotors is missing a nut. By the way, you get the drone including grass. The grass that's stuck to it. You get exactly what you see. With no guarantee that you'll get everything working again.
Alas - FPV goggles are not included. I would also get a new battery (preferably several) to be on the safe side. You shouldn't leave them lying around unused in the basement for too long. The drone has probably been lying in the cellar for nine months now.
So, are you interested? One day I'd like to own a yacht on Lake Zurich without spending a single cents. Well, a motorhome will do in a pinch. And yes, I realise that I won't get this for the items pictured above. But this is just the beginning of a new round of the game.
Mail me at martin.jud@digitecgalaxus.ch with your offer. You have until Thursday, 15 November 2018 before I will enter into a trade.
